IIT-M to install air quality monitoring equipment
The Indian Institute of Technology - Madras will soon set up automatic air quality monitoring instruments at several locations in the city.
The instrument, developed by the Department of Civil Engineering, will measure parameters such as particulate matter (PM) of size 2.5 microns and less, 10 microns and less, nitrous oxides (NO2), carbon monoxide, temperature and humidity in the ambient air.
The data would be detected by sensors every minute and sent to the server at IIT-Madras Clean Air Resources Centre.
