Individual’s sustained effort has turned home into a mini organic forest
Grown over 35 years, Chennai man’s home forest has 350+ of India’s rarest plants
From the legendary Thillai tree to the Brahma Kamalam that blooms once in 12 years, Jaswant Singh’s 10,000 sq. ft. garden is a hidden wonderland with 350 rare species, which Singh has painstakingly collected from all over India in over three decades.
Jaswant Singh started exploring gardening as a hobby when he was 19 years old.
His mini forest is one of the few places the Flame Lily, Tamil Nadu’s state flower can be found.
His family has also adopted an all organic diet with fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs grown in their home garden.
His garden has turned into a key tourist spot with students, tourists and even dignitaries dropping in at his home.
