MSSRF introduces programmes to promote community conservation and utilisation of biodiversity
MS Swaminathan Research Foundation plans to set up genetic gardens of biofortified plants and medicinal plants in the bio-valley of Kerala and other parts of the country.
Aim of the bio-valley project in Kerala is to involve close to 1000 farm men and women in conservation and sustainable utilisation, safeguarding the state’s Ayurvedic heritage.
Genetic gardens of bio-fortified plants rich in Vitamin A, Iron, Iodine and other micro-nutrients will be set up at different regions in the country - acting as an educational tool and source of raw material for nutritional farming systems.
