TN govt inks pact with German bank to purchase eco-friendly buses
The Tamil Nadu government signed 'project agreement' with a German development bank, KfW, to avail financial aid to the tune of Rs.1,580 crore (203 million Euros) for purchasing 2,213 buses besides 500 electric buses for the state transport undertakings.
Objective of the project is to minimise air pollution from public transportation in the state by plying advanced eco-friendly buses and electric buses in phases under the MoU signed between London based ‘C-40”.
This is the first phase of a major project financial assistance by the German bank to the tune of Rs. 5890 crore.
