Residents with support from civic body make plans to restore local lake
Polluted Korattur lake to be converted into eco-park, thanks to locals
Residents of Korattur have tied up with the State government to restore 590 acres of polluted Korattur Lake into an eco-park. The lake near Ambattur will be converted into an eco-park similar to the one present at Chetpet.
Korattur lake is highly polluted by industrial effluents and sewage from neighbouring houses causing turbidity, salinity and pH levels to increase radically.
Residents will assist in planting 250 species of herbal plants and trees and install two recharge wells around the lake.
The Public Works Department is planning to entrust the maintenance of the lake to the Korattur Residents Welfare Association.
